Ed is head of the shipping and transport department in Scotland and is a leading shipping lawyer.

Experience

Co-author of "Ship Registration: Law and Practice" for Lloyd's Shipping Law Library, Ed has acted in the construction and acquisition or sale of more than 125 vessels, and is a recognised expert in dual registration of ships in the Caspian Sea.

Successes

Acting for owners in $70 million purchase, financing and mobilisation of four North Sea vessels for use in Azerbaijan.

Advising Scottish clients upon £85 million PFI offshore subcontract for performance of mooring maintenance and repair on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

Representing Chevron Shipping Limited in the House of Lords case "Chevron North America" concerning the liability of bareboat charterers.

Acting for the buyer of a $45 million dive support platform completing whilst operational in the Gulf of Mexico.

Advising Middle Eastern clients in respect of $300 million tenders for the provision of marine support to offshore construction in the North Caspian Sea, and upon contracts for a fleet renewal program requiring eight new vessels from shipyards in China.
