Expertise

Joseph has a broad skill set and regularly undertakes a very wide variety of work in the real estate sector. He has significant expertise in commercial real estate law including investment, development, corporate and finance support and landlord and tenant. Joseph has acted for developers, property companies, institutions, private equity houses and end users throughout his career.

Experience

Joseph has many years' experience of dealing with all aspects of commercial property with particular expertise in complex real estate acquisitions and sales. Joseph has acted as lead real estate lawyer on a number of very high profile transactions and also has expertise in advising on planning and development matters related to asset management and development projects on office, residential and mixed use schemes.

Joseph has also been seconded to two major oil companies during his career.

Successes

Acting for a leading property company and asset and facilities manager in relation to numerous development sites, including dealing with the planning aspects, the site assembly, title issues and, ultimately, on the sale of the one of the client's largest ever single-asset transactions.

Acting for a leading service company as lead real estate lawyer on their Private Finance Initiative contract with the UK Government (deal value £750 million).

Acting for a leading private equity house on the real estate aspects of its circa 500,000 square feet acquisition of office space located in the south east of England.

Acting on the real estate aspects of a circa Euro 1 billion corporate acquisition by a private equity house of a pan-European vending business (with in excess of 200 properties across 19 jurisdictions).

Acting on the property finance aspects of the refinance of 19 UK hotels.

Acting as lead real estate lawyer on the disposal of 37 nursing homes on behalf of a UK private equity house.

Acting as lead UK lawyer on the UK and European real estate aspects of a telecoms and manufacturing company's disposal of its submarine cable systems division (deal value £71 million).

Landlord and tenant work: acting for landlords and tenants on numerous retail, office and industrial leases often on complex, high value transactions, together with related management matters.

Acting for a number of major corporates and finance houses on new central London headquarters.
