The retail team in the Birmingham office of national law firm, Gateley has advised on the opening of Acorns Children's Hospice's 50th retail store. The high street store in Moseley opens its doors to the public on Saturday 19th November.
The completion of the charity's landmark store further expands its retail property portfolio, which is already the largest children's hospice retail chain. Acorns Children's Hospices provide a network of care for life limited and life threatened children and young people, and their families, across the Heart of England.
Janice McPherson, head of retail for Acorns commented: "We are delighted to be opening our 50th store in Moseley, as our retail chain makes a huge contribution towards funding our vital care and support services across the Heart of England.
"The real estate team at Gateley has provided us with invaluable property advice and support as we have developed our retail offering. Opening a store involves a lot of hard work by all those involved and the smooth running of each retail project is extremely important. We value Gateley's commercial and pragmatic approach to getting the job done particularly when there are tight timescales to be met."
The property deal was led by real estate associate, James Madill, who is part of the firm's 30-strong cross departmental retail team. James said: "We have advised on property work for the charity's retail stores for more than 15 years and have also provided legal advice for Acorns in a number of different areas during this time. We're hugely impressed with the work they carry out across the region and were delighted to be involved in advising on this great achievement of a 50th store opening. We wish them continued success with their fundraising efforts in the future."
To mark the 50th store opening, Gateley has committed to a fundraising fire walk early next year. The real estate team is hoping to attract at least 50 people to take part in the spectacular event with all proceeds from the fire walk going to the charity.
