The Manchester office of Gateley – the top 50, national law firm – has teamed up with a non-league football club as part of an initiative to support sport at a grass-roots level
The firm has entered into a new partnership with Congleton Town FC. The club was established in 1901 and plays in the North West Counties League Premier Division. As part of the new arrangements, Gateley will become the club’s sponsor, with a series of community engagement projects also planned for 2012.
The partnership with the club continues Gateley’s support of community-based projects. Last month, 28 lawyers took to the classroom at a Manchester primary school as part of the Young Enterprise scheme, helping children better understand the demands of the workplace.
Stephen Hills, an employment partner at the Manchester office of Gateley, said: “As a firm, we work with many of the top sporting clubs in the country, but we also think it is very important to support sport at a grass-roots level. We’re delighted to have teamed up with Congleton to support the club as it looks to progress.”
Nigel Moorhouse, a director at Congleton Town FC, said: “We’ve got big plans for the future and, with Gateley’s support, we’re confident that we’ll achieve those goals.”
He continued: “We have a committed group of fans and we look forward to attracting more people to the club this season and in the future. Lower league football is growing in popularity and the new partnership with Gateley marks a new phase in the club’s development.”
Previous work in the sporting arena completed by the Manchester office of Gateley includes advising Lancashire County Cricket Club on its redevelopment of Old Trafford Cricket Ground and work with Premier League football club, Manchester City.
