National law firm, Gateley has made a key appointment in its London office. Colin Mattis joins the firm as partner to head up the London banking and finance team as it moves to expand its offering in the City. The appointment follows a successful 12 months for Gateley, which recently posted a record increase in turnover and entered into the Legal Week Top 50 UK law firms by revenue for the first time.
Colin joins the firm from Shoosmiths where he headed up its banking and finance South team specialising in corporate banking, acquisition finance, structured finance and property and development finance. He has represented institutional investors, UK and US banks and public and private companies working on UK and cross-border acquisitions and disposals, management buy-outs, joint ventures and private equity transactions.
In addition to his extensive banking and finance experience, Colin has advised clients in multiple industry sectors covering property, healthcare, technology, motor, retail and leisure, utilities and telecommunications sectors.
Paul Hayward is joint managing partner at Gateley and oversees the London operation. Colin trained and qualified at Cobbetts in Manchester and since then has worked in City and international practices including the London office of Squire Sanders.
