Guy has extensive experience of both contentious and non-contentious employment law. He acts for a broad range of national and international clients in the corporate, retail, leisure and public sectors.
He is Gateley's lead Partner and first point of contact for the British Medical Association providing assistance to the medical profession on an individual and collective basis across the UK, including high profile litigation and judicial review applications.
Guy has a Masters Degree in employment and trade union law and has particular experience in advising clients on mergers, acquisitions and restructuring together with the effect of TUPE in relation to those transactions and various outsourcing projects.
He has also contributed to various publications including Personal Today, Estates Gazette, Financial Times and other mainstream daily newspapers.
Guy is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
Advised the London Borough of Hackney in relation to its establishment of 'The Learning Trust'.
Participated in the Fitness For Work Scheme initiative proposed by the Department of Health and the Department of Work and Pensions in conjunction with Kensington and Chelsea Chambers of Commerce.
Advised major plc based in Canada in regard to the employment aspects of several acquisitions reinforcing its position as the number one supplier in its business sector.
Advised a private company in a PFI deal for property construction and the outsourcing of services from a local authority for a 25 year period.
Advised and represented a leading household name in a restructuring program to reduce its workforce and close a number of sites which included negotiating with the Welsh Assembly.
Advised a property development and construction company on its practices and procedures internationally including the harmonisation of terms and conditions across a number of EC member states.
Represented a Director of Public Health in a claim for unfair dismissal and age discrimination, securing a six figure settlement of over £400,000.
Represented a major international software house and successfully defended claims of equal pay and unfair dismissal arising from employees based in the USA.
