We are one of the few firms in the country to have significant expertise in consumer credit work.
Members of the Consumer Credit team are able to handle the entire range of issues which arise in this highly-regulated and fast-changing sector, including licensing, advertising compliance, standard and bespoke regulated credit and hire agreements, drafting of security documents and advice on default, enforcement and termination.
The legal landscape for consumer credit and consumer hire has seen significant changes in recent years – and this process is continuing. The various changes made have not been straightforward for lenders and lessors, particularly with the abolition of the upper financial limit for consumer transactions and the introduction of various categories of exemptions.
In our experience, the implementation of compliant procedures is as important as ensuring that documentation meets the requirements of the legislation. We are able to provide advice on all of the areas which procedures need to cover, including advertising, entry into agreements, the requirement to provide information to consumers and the steps which must be taken on default.
The firm is a member of both the Finance and Leasing Association and the Consumer Credit Trade Association.
“The compact team in this area focuses on small and medium-sized disputes in the asset finance, consumer finance and motor finance sectors. The firm is developing a reputation for taking on conflict work in opposition to banks”

“They move quickly and work on commercial results rather than simply following a legal process”
