Outsourcing - either through business process outsourcing or IT outsourcing - is an important part of any business, just as commercial alliances, joint ventures, collaborations and consortia are.

Many businesses choose not to ‘go it alone’. Forming joint ventures, bidding for contracts as part of a consortium and collaborating to share the costs of developing technologies is on the increase. Moreover, very few businesses do not, to some extent, outsource the provision of business processes and/or IT support.

These alliances are typically based on a written agreement, often a detailed contract, which regulates the conduct of the parties throughout the relationship. Such ventures are notoriously difficult to unravel and termination is rarely an attractive option so they have to be ‘right first time’ arrangements. Our experience in this area has helped put together many successful contracts.
